Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)ケーブルのRJ-45 (ISO 8877)コネクターはEIA/TIA規格で定義されている。plug側が雄でケーブルの端に、jack が雌で壁やパッチパネルなどに取りつけられる。
ピンアサインは以下の通りである。

Plug (Looking at connector end with the cable running away from you)	Jack (Looking at cavity in the wall)
